A fan theory claims that Taylor Swift left her scarf at Maggie Gyllenhaal’s house—and it has become so widespread the actress has been forced to address the question publicly.
Maggie, 39, was asked about Taylor’s scarf during an interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen today.
Taylor, now 27, dated Maggie’s brother Jake Gyllenhaal, 36, from 2010 to 2011. She appears to be referencing their love story in her song All Too Well, in which she also mentions leaving her scarf at her love interest’s house.

Answer: Andy asked Maggie whether Taylor left a scarf at her house, which echoes some of the song’s lyrics—and the actress admitted it was entirely possible the accessory was left there
‘And I left my scarf there at your sister’s house, and you still got it in your drawer even now,’ Taylor sings in the hit, which first appeared in 2012 on her album Red.
She even refers to the precious accessory a second time, adding later: ‘But you keep my old scarf from that very first week / ‘Cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me / You can’t get rid of it, ’cause you remember it all too well, yeah.’
The timing of the song, combined, perhaps, with a well-known set of pictures in which Jake and Taylor walked in an autumnal setting while she wore—yes—a scarf, led fans to posit the tune is about their relationship, and to wonder whether the scarf anecdote is true.
Andy asked Maggie that very question on his show, prompting Maggie to acknowledge that people have brought up the issue many times in the past.

She admitted the scarf very well might have been left at her house, but added she doesn’t know for sure.
‘I am in the dark about the scarf. It’s totally possible. I don’t know,’ she said.
Maggie also acknowledged that people have brought up the scarf issue many times in the past.
‘I have been asked this before and I’ve been like, “What are you talking about?” ‘ she added.
Andy suggested she should look for the accessory—adding that if she does find it, she should think about selling it on eBay.
