Magpies stars in line for long-term deals 

Collingwood are determined to lock away Jordan De Goey, Darcy Moore and Brayden Maynard on long-term AFL deals, with all three Magpies stars coming out of contract at the end of next season.

A year after controversially trading out Adam Treloar, Jaidyn Stephenson and Tom Phillips to relieve salary cap pressure, this off-season has been far less rocky for Collingwood.

They secured midfielder Patrick Lipinski from the Western Bulldogs on Monday by giving up pick 43, and will take father-son prospect Nick Daicos in the draft later this year.

Collingwood football boss Graham Wright said the Magpies were focused on keeping De Goey, Moore and Maynard as they rebuild under new coach Craig McRae.

‘We’d certainly like to have those guys tied up,’ Wright told 3AW.

‘I’ve had conversations with all of their managers and we’ll sort of process those once we get through the next few days (of the trade period).

‘We’ll start to, hopefully, lock them away long-term at the Collingwood footy club.’

Collingwood secured De Goey, Moore and Maynard during a bumper 2014 draft and the trio are now among the club’s most important players.

De Goey’s management spoke with rival clubs last year, before re-signing on a two-year deal with the Magpies.

The explosive forward flourished this year as he was given more time in the midfield.

Wright also confirmed fringe ruckman Max Lynch is seeking a trade to Hawthorn as he looks for more opportunities.

With Brodie Grundy certified as one of the AFL’s premier ruckmen, Lynch has been restricted to just three games after being picked up by the Magpies in the 2017 rookie draft.

‘He’s told us that he’d like to get across to Hawthorn,’ Wright said.

‘We would like to keep him to be honest, but what we’d discussed is for him to explore being a first ruck elsewhere.’
