Major search for two teenagers missing off Western Australia coast

  • Search is underway for a boy and a teenager who have gone missing in WA
  • The pair intended to take their inflatable dinghy from one bay to another  
  • They left at 4pm on Tuesday but didn’t return home two hours later as expected

A search is underway for two brothers who have gone missing in their inflatable dinghy.

The pair, aged 12 and 18, intended to take the boat from South Lefroy Bay, on the WA north coast, to Norwegian Bay, more than 12km away, according to the ABC.

They set off around 4pm on Tuesday but did not return home two hours later as expected.

Volunteers are searching the shoreline and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority Challenger Jet is conducting an aerial search.

Water Police and Exmouth Volunteer Marine Rescue are also aiding in the search.
