Elon Musk has encountered a series of setbacks in recent months, and the latest came as X has crashed in a widespread outage.

X has become Musk’s primary platform for sharing his often controversial and unconventional views.

The outage largely affected users along the East Coast, with reports also coming in from Dallas, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

Downdetector, a website that tracks online service disruptions, confirmed connection issues.

The crash comes amid a string of blows for Musk, including a political defeat in Wisconsin, a sharp decline in Tesla’s stock value and growing criticism over his government role and the so-called ‘DOGE’ initiative.

Users have shared their frustrations on Downdetector, saying X’s ‘servers are as slow as a snail.’

Other users cannot even open the website or access the app.

‘This is Why Discord and Youtube is Way better Platform than Twitter. There Hardly any Random outages on those Sites. #ElonMuskResign,’ one person shared on Downdetector.

Downdetector began logging reports of issues with X around 11am ET, but the number of complaints spiked about two hours later.

Roughly 56 percent of users cited problems with the website, 35 percent with the mobile app, and 9 percent reported server connection issues.

A failed server connection means a device or application cannot communicate with its server, potentially leading to service disruptions, data loss, or even security vulnerabilities.

The outage is yet another setback for Elon Musk, who recently claimed victory over a new voter ID law in Wisconsin, despite Republican candidate Brad Schimel losing to Democrat Susan Crawford in April’s Supreme Court election.

Reports show Musk and his allies spent more than $20 million supporting Schimel, the former Wisconsin attorney general, in an effort to shift the court’s ideological balance.

Crawford received significant backing from billionaires George Soros and J.B. Pritzker.

To make matters worse, Tesla sales plummeted 13 percent that same month.

Some experts linked the drop to Musk’s polarizing posts on X and intensifying competition in China from domestic electric vehicle manufacturers.

Musk has also faced international criticism over his social media behavior, including unproven allegations of making a Nazi salute at Donald Trump’s inauguration -an accusation he denies.

The backlash has fueled anti-Tesla protests and vandalism, with several incidents targeting the company’s vehicles such as the Model 3, Model X, and the polarizing Cybertruck.

And about three weeks ago, President Donald Trump’s chief of staff has revealed Musk was no longer working at the White House after spending the first 100 Days by the president’s side.

After months of dominating the West Wing, attending Cabinet meetings, riding shotgun on Air Force One, and even bringing his toddler son ‘X’ into high-level budget briefings, Musk has been notably absent from the White House campus.
