Major traffic delays on Richmond Road, Berkshire Park, Windsor, Sydney due to major crash

A major car crash west of Sydney has sparked commuter chaos during morning peak hour. 

Four cars collided on Richmond Road in Berkshire, a suburb near Penrith about 55km west of Sydney CBD, at 6am on Tuesday. 

Two vehicles collided head-on, leaving a female occupant trapped due to the car being crushed. Another driver was seriously injured.

NSW Ambulance paramedics are on scene treating those involved. 

Extensive delays are expected in both north and south directions, and motorists are urged to avoid the area as emergency services attend the scene. 

Part of Richmond Road is currently closed off.

Motorists are being encouraged to use Llandilo Road, Second Avenue, Eighth Avenue, South Creek Road, White Road, Shane Park Road, Stony Creek Road and St Mary’s Road as alternative routes.
