The average woman will spend £22,000 on make-up over her lifetime, meaning treating yourself to that expensive lipstick or fancy highlighter can really add up.

Avon has enlisted make-up artist, Dani Guinsberg to see if you can really tell the difference between a pricier brand and a more affordable option.

She created a beauty look on one half of a model’s face using eight Mac products to the value of £159 and the other half with similar versions of Avon cosmetics costing £48.50.

Dani said: ‘I have always believed that people don’t need to spend a fortune on make-up to get great quality and on trend products and this campaign is proof.

‘I can honestly say that the Avon products I used on the shoot are as good as MAC and even the model and photographer couldn’t tell which side was which.’
