Man, 19, is stabbed and sprayed with ‘noxious substance’ in acid attack outside McDonald’s as police arrest teenager, 18

A 19-year-old man has been stabbed and sprayed with a ‘noxious substance’ in an acid attack outside a McDonald’s.

The victim was rushed to hospital after being attacked on New Road in Gravesend, Kent, after 11pm last night. He remains in a serious but stable condition. 

An 18-year-old teenager has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and is in custody.

Officers rushed to the scene after receiving an urgent 999 call. 

The suspect, from Dartford, was arrested in Saddington Street nearby a short time after the attack.

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward, to help their investigation.

It comes amid a surge in violent crime in the capital as a 29-year-old man became the seventh stabbing murder victim this week, bringing killings to their highest level since 2008. 

The victim was found with knife wounds in Newham, east London, at around 2am following reports of a fight in the area, and pronounced dead 45 minutes later.

Yesterday, police were desperately hunting for three killers after they forced their way into a house in Hounslow, west London, just before 11.30 am on Thursday and stabbed 35-year-old Ebrima Cham to death.

A man in his 20s was also stabbed to death on Bromley Road, Walthamstow, on the same evening while a second suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A man in his 30s also died after being attacked near Scratchwood Park, Barnet.

He was found in a car and pronounced dead at the scene.

Three men also died within hours of each other in separate attacks on Thursday, and a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death.
