Man, 27, and woman, 29, face five charges over death of four-week old boy in Leicester

Two charged with murder after four-week-old baby boy was found dead at home in 2017: Man, 27, and woman, 29, face five charges following ‘complex’ five-year probe

Two people have today been charged with murder following the death of a four-week-old baby. 

Young Ollie Davis was found unresponsive in his cot at his home in Leicester on October 21, 2017. 

Police launched an investigation following the death of the four-week-old at the property in Upper Temple Walk, Beaumont Leys. 

Now Kayleigh Driver, 29, and Michael Davis, 27, both of Carlisle Street, Leicester, have been charged with murder by Leicestershire Police.

They both are due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.

Leicestershire Police say they will face charges of murder of a victim under one on October 21, 2017 and causing or allowing the death of a child between October 9 and October 21, 2017.

They also face one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent between October 9 and October 18, 2017 and one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent between October 9 and October 21, 2017.

Police have also charged them with one count of causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm between October 9 and October 21, 2017.  

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: ‘Two people have been charged with a murder following the death of a four-week-old baby in 2017.

‘Kayleigh Driver, 29, and Michael Davis, 27, both of Carlisle Street, Leicester, will appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court at 12pm today (Monday 25 October) charged with five offences. 

The charges relate to the death of baby Ollie Davis, who was found unresponsive in his cot on the morning on 21 October 2017 at the then home address in Upper Temple Walk, Beaumont Leys.

‘The two people were arrested on 27 October 2017. Since then, a complex investigation has been carried out.’
