A jealous ex-boyfriend stalked his former partner on holiday – after bugging her car with a phone and following her.

Colin Probert, 45, planted the iPhone with a tracking app in his ex-girlfriend’s car boot and attached a long-life battery pack.

He used the phone to follow his ex when she went on holiday – and turned up at the caravan park she was staying.

A court heard Probert also broke into the woman’s house, bombarded her with text messages and set up a fake Facebook in her name.

Prosecutor Janet Gedrych said the woman would receive texts indicating Probert knew where she was – such as asking her to buy items from whatever shop she was in.

She also received anonymous phone calls and saw a fake Facebook account had been set up in her name.

Swansea Crown Court heard Probert also took a house key and cash from her car before letting himself into her home while she was asleep with her new partner and stole a bank card.

Her American Express bank card and £250 were were then found Probert’s house days later. Probert, of Swansea, admitted stalking, theft and burglary.

He told police that he stole the money in the hope it would cause his ex and her new partner to fall out.

Probert was handed a two year suspended sentence and ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work.

Judge Peter Heywood told Probert he had been ‘clearly been motivated by jealousy.’

He said the impact on his ex: ‘Had been unpleasant to say the least.’
