The snake is understood to be a 1.5metre-long eastern brown.
Native to Australia and Papua New Guinea, the eastern brown snake is the second most venomous land snake in the world.
The man’s death comes after a 24-year-old died in hospital after being bitten by an eastern brown snake in Tamworth, northern New South Wales, in January.
