Man accused of beating mother and son to death with a pipe wrench

A 21-year-old man is accused of beating a mother and son to death with a pipe wrench for ‘being weird’ after they took him into their home.

William Hillman has been charged with murdering Denise McFadzen, 42, and Dalton McFadzen, 21, at their home in Perham, Minnesota on Tuesday.

Police responded to a 911 call at the home at about 5am and found Denise’s body lying outside the trailer home, while her son was found dead inside near his bedroom.

William Hillman, 21, has been charged with murdering Denise McFadzen, 42, and Dalton McFadzen, 21, at their home in Perham, Minnesota on Tuesday

Both victims suffered blunt force trauma to their skulls and police recovered a bloodied pipe wrench nearby.

Hillman, who has a history of mental illness and violence, allegedly told police he had done a ‘bad thing’ and needed to be arrested.

He also allegedly told officers ‘I killed two people’.

Hillman said he went to bed at about 10pm the night before but when he woke up on Tuesday morning ‘everything went black’.

When police asked Hillman if the McFadzens, who had taken him in, had ever threatened him, he said they hadn’t but they were just ‘weird’.

‘I’m sorry. I’m sorry I did it,’ he allegedly told the officers.

Police reports indicate that Hillman had hit his own mother two years ago. He was then committed St. Peter Regional Treatment Center where he was diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Denise McFadzen had been married to her husband Mark for 20 years and they had several children.

‘They were the kindest, caring, loving people you would meet,’ a GoFundMe page set up by a family friend said.

‘They were kind enough to let someone in their lives without knowing the end result.’
