Man charged with fighting after chainsaw brawl

A man has been charged following a road rage incident involving a chainsaw in Sydney’s west.

The 25-year-old man allegedly punched a 34-year-old man through the open window of his four-wheel drive after it stopped on Horsley Drive in Fairfield on Tuesday afternoon.

Two tradesmen rushed to the driver’s aid and the man was subdued.

The man allegedly stormed back to his own vehicle when the 4WD left the scene and retrieved a chainsaw, started it and demanded a person filming the incident on a mobile phone stop recording.

Police charged a 25-year-old man with various offences at the local police station about 8.30pm on Wednesday and he was granted conditional bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on May 7.

Footage obtained by 9News  shows terrified pedestrians screaming as a shirtless tradesman allegedly strolls down a road while revving a chainsaw.

‘Brother, put your f****** phone down. Ugh, stop recording man,’ the tradesman can reportedly be heard saying to a man filming nearby before the footage ends.

Additional footage from a nearby street shows a white Jeep attempting to merge into heavy traffic.

As the Jeep makes its way across the road and creeps past a median strip it comes to a stop in front of a queue of vehicles.

A driver in one of the backed up vehicles is clearly incensed by the actions of the person behind the wheel of the Jeep.

Another driver in a bright orange high-visibility shirt spots the melee and runs over towards the men.

He ends up scrapping with the shirtless man, as the driver of the Jeep wrestles with him from behind.

Eventually the shirtless man is taken to the ground, at which point another man in a fluorescent shirt joins the group.

The shirtless man gets up and seemingly having calmed down walks away, not before pointing and gesturing at the three others.

The man in the Jeep then gets back into his car, successfully merges and drives off.
