A man has been charged with murder after a 15-year-old boy was found dead in bushland near Sydney’s south-west.
The teenager’s body was found off Wilton Park Road at Wilton on Saturday morning, with the 32-year-old man arrested after presenting himself at Narellan Police Station shortly after 4pm.
He has been charged with murder and will face Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday, where police will allege he stabbed the teen during a physical altercation.
Police believe roughly a dozen young campers may have gathered on Friday evening near the area where the body was found.
Acting superintendent Tim Calman said state crime officer were called to the location to help as there were ‘a lot of moving parts’.
Police believe the boy is from the Wilton area.
His family had been notified of his death, Supt Calman said, and were being supported by police.
‘We put our thoughts out to the family,’ he said. ‘They will be doing it tough this afternoon.’

Police are appealing for anyone with knowledge of the incident or dashcam or mobile footage to come forward, as well as anyone who might have been in the area since 6pm on Friday.
‘Police are speaking a number of witnesses and we’re canvassing the local area, premises, service stations, everything down there that may lead us to give us some an idea of what’s actually happened,’ Supt Calaman said.
‘There would be evidence at the scene that indicates it happened in the area where this person has been located … we’ll have a clearer idea when that area has been processed.
‘We have a number of active lines of inquiry at the present time that we’re following up on.’
