Manchester City are closing on agreement with AC Milan over a £60m deal for midfielder Tijjani Reijnders.

Reijnders is coming off the back of an impressive campaign for the Serie A outfit in which he contributed 15 goals and five assists in 54 appearances in all competitions.

Milan may have only finished eighth in the table but the Dutchman’s performances saw him named the Serie A midfielder of the season.

The 26-year-old Netherlands international has enhanced his reputation since joining Milan from AZ Alkmaar in 2023, playing over 104 games for the Italian giants.

Milan supporters have voiced their opposition to the potential sale of Reijnders, who was one of the few bright notes of their season.

Pep Guardiola wants to bolster that area of the pitch but has stressed that the club will take the final decisions when it comes to transfers.

City also remain in discussions with Wolves for £40m-rated Rayan Ait Nouri and Lyon for Rayan Cherki.

Attacking midfielder Cherki, 21, is valued around £35m after netting 12 times in 44 games this season, including two against Manchester United in the Europa League.

He was also part of the France U23 team that won a silver medal at last summer’s Olympic Games.

Cherki has not yet been capped by France at senior international level but was recently handed his first call-up and could make his debut in Thursday’s UEFA Nations League semi-final clash with Spain.

City hope to complete the signing of Ait-Nouri before the Club World Cup to strengthen Pep Guardiola’s back line.

Wolves left-back Ait-Nouri has been admired by scouts at City for the past 12 months.

They believe that the 23-year-old now has enough Premier League experience to make the step up after a strong season at Molineux.

Known for his buccaneering style, Ait-Nouri scored five goals in 41 appearances last season and registered another seven assists.

The Algeria international has a year left on his Wolves contract – the club also possessing an option to extend that.
