Trevor Sinclair believes Manchester City should make a move for Tammy Abraham instead of chasing a £160million deal for Harry Kane.
The England captain, who is yet to win a trophy with Spurs, informed the club of his desire to leave this summer after their failure to qualify for the Champions League and City are the front-runners to secure his signature.
Reports last week claimed that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was ready to sanction a £160m move for Kane – which would see the striker earn £400,000 a week at the Etihad – in what would be a major U-turn, with the club having rejected a £100m bid last month.

Sportsmail understands nothing has changed from Tottenham’s perspective and they will not entertain any talks of a deal unless they receive a bid higher than their £150m asking price.
And former City forward Sinclair believes City should look elsewhere for a new frontman.
He told talkSPORT he would rather see the club make a move for Chelsea outcast Abraham, who is valued at £40m – less than half of the fee City would need to pay for Kane.

Abraham struggled for game time under Thomas Tuchel last season and was left out of the squad for the Champions League final against City in May.
When asked by fellow pundit Jamie O’Hara whether he would take Abraham at City over Kane, Sinclair replied: ‘I would, yeah.
‘He’s a young enough player and with Pep Guardiola’s coaching ability and the teammates around him… he’s a top player.
‘The season he had at Aston Villa and then he went back t’o Chelsea and did very well. He’s a handful, his pace, he looks to stretch the lines, he’s a finisher.
‘No player’s perfect, especially at 22 or 23, but there’s a lot of growth there with Tammy.

‘He’d be someone I’d be very interested to see at Manchester City.’
Sinclair also said paying over £100m for one player would be ‘ridiculous’.
‘It just goes against my principles of what I think about the club. Honestly, it really does,’ he continued.
‘I just don’t want to see the club going out there and spending that ridiculous amount of money to bring one player in. That just kills it then. You might as well pack up.’
