Benjamin Mendy has quickly gained a reputation for his antics on social media and the £52m summer arrival from Monaco has struck again.
Mendy’s team-mate Nicolas Otamendi posted a picture of the pair with Sergio Aguero, Fernandinho, Gabriel Jesus and Bernardo Silva on his Twitter account as City arrived back in Manchester following their emphatic 4-0 win over Dutch champions Feyenoord.
Otamendi simply captioned the photo of the City players, who were sat around a table at the back of the team-coach, ‘Back in Manchester’.
Benjamin Mendy joked the photo with his team-mates was the City version of the Cali Cartel
It was in reference to Netflix series Narcos which focuses on the Cali Cartel gang in season 3
And the 23-year-old France international was quick to respond with a witty remark, branding the six of them as the faces of ‘The City Cartel’ on Twitter.
Mendy was referring to the popular Netflix series Narcos, which he has clearly been following.
The focus of the new third season, which was released at the beginning of September, has shifted from Pablo Escobar, who died in season two’s finale, to the Cali Cartel gang.
Mendy joked that they resembled the gang and said they were the City version of the new crime kingpins in the series following their victory at Feyenoord.

Mendy played a starring role on Wednesday and said it was a ‘pleasure’ to play in the victory
It was an unlikely double from John Stones and a goal apiece for Aguero and Jesus that gave City their convincing victory.
But Mendy, now all joking aside, took to Twitter on Thursday as he immediately turns his attentions to the weekend’s fixture.
He wrote: ‘always a pleasure to play those games, now focus on our weekend.’
