A seven-year-old girl was dramatically rescued after falling from her sixth-floor home in east China on early Monday morning.

The girl slipped between the gaps of a metal rack from her high-rise home in Hangzhou’s Xiasha district and was left dangerously clinging onto her downstairs neighbour’s window grilles.

The quick-thinking neighbour, who heard the commotion outside, immediately retrieved a pillow and propped it under the girl. He also held the girl tightly until firefighters arrived.

Heart-stopping video footage of the incident in Zhejiang province shows a firefighter descending from the seventh floor to the fifth floor to reach the trapped girl.

The downstairs neighbour was seen grasping tightly onto the girl, who was perched on a pillow outside his window grilles.

Two fire trucks and 14 firefighters were alerted to the scene at 6:04am after receiving a report, according to Zhejiang online.

After 10 minutes, the firefighter swiftly lifted the girl into the neighbour’s flat through the fire escape on the other side of the building.

The little girl is unhurt and is in stable condition.

She was reportedly left alone at home while her caretaker went out to buy groceries. The authorities were unable to reach the child’s parents after the girl was saved, according to the report.

The neighbour was identified to be 23-year-old Tao Hangbo, a recent university graduate.

He only moved into the flat in three weeks ago, according to a news release by the Hangzhou municipal government.

‘I heard someone crying outside and was shocked to see the little girl clinging onto my window,’ he said.

‘Thank goodness the girl is okay now,’ he said.
