A man has been killed after armed thugs broke into his home and battered the victim and his partner.
Several men broke into the house at about 3am and attacked the man and woman, who is in a serious condition in hospital.
Two young children, aged under six years old, were in the house at the time but were uninjured.
Shortly after the attack, a burnt out car was found abandoned a few miles away from the house in Ballincollig, County Cork, Ireland.
