One Kansas City couple started their life together with a really expensive splash.
Seth Dixon was preparing to propose to the love of his life, Ruth Salas, when he unexpectedly dropped her $3,000 diamond engagement ring in a lake.
The heartwarming video starts off with Seth getting down on one knee to propose to his lovely lady as she holds her hand over her heart at Loose Park in Kansas City.
But as he cracked open the box to give his bride-to-be the symbol of their love, the ring slipped out and fell onto the bridge where they were standing.
Pure romance: Seth Dixon’s proposal to his longtime love Ruth Salas started out as a romantic walk in the park that ended with them on a bridge sitting over a lake. Seth got down on one knee for the moment they had both been waiting for
Terror: But panic quickly erupted as Seth unexpectedly dropped her $3,000 diamond engagement ring into the lake. As he cracked open the box to give his bride-to-be the symbol of their love, the ring slipped out and fell through the bridge’s cracks
Shock: Seth desperately scrambled to catch it but soon realized that it was gone. He sat on both knees with his mouth agape as the two tried to come to terms with what just happened
But the terror didn’t stop there. The ring then fell through the tiny cracks of the bridge and into the water below as Seth desperately scrambled to catch it.
‘It went down,’ Ruth is heard saying as her husband-to-be clasps his hand over his mouth.
And what was supposed to be a joyful moment quickly turned into disappointment.
But once the couple’s friends heard of what happened they tried their best to help, even jumping into the water and scouring the bottom of the lake to find the ring.
According to a GoFundMe account set up to help Seth replace the ring, about 25 of their friends ‘grabbed their goggles and headed to Loose Park in search of this small treasure’.
‘After a long, hard search all the divers came up empty handed. The couple left with no ring in hand but a heart full of love and memories to last a lifetime,’ the account read.

Seth, who works as an Uber driver, has been dating Ruth for four years. He told the Kansas City Star that the whole thing is ‘absolutely real’.
‘I wish it wasn’t’, Dixon added. Ruth, who is a substitute teacher for the Liberty School District, also said that the pair both ‘freaked out’.
‘It ping-ponged from one plank to another. You could hear a little plop,’ she said.
Ruth said despite what happened she’s just ‘happy and excited that we’re finally engaged’.
‘Just sad I don’t have a ring to show for it,’ she admitted.
This couple might not have the picture perfect engagement story but they do have a story they hope will bring joy and laughter to others.
