The teenager is accused of fleeing after he made eye contact with a police officer, eventually plunging himself off the multi-level car park in an alleged attempt to escape.

The man allegedly continued to run but could not go far because he had suffered shoulder and leg injuries, police said.

Police are expected to charge the man once he is discharged from the Gold Coast University Hospital.
