Man in his 20s dies in hospital after being stabbed in north London

A man in his 20s was stabbed to death in London today in the capital’s 122nd murder of the year as the gun and knife crime epidemic continues.

Police and paramedics were called at 1pm to reports of a stabbing in Enfield, North London, and set up a crime scene – but they could not find a victim in the area.

However a man later presented himself at a hospital suffering from stab wounds and died at 2.21pm. Detectives said a post-mortem examination will be scheduled.

Police await formal identification and are now trying to tell the victim’s next of kin. There have been no arrests and road closures were put in place near the scene.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police North Area Command Unit are investigating, while detectives from Specialist Crime have also been informed of the death. 

The attack was the second stabbing within 12 hours in North London after another man in his 20s was stabbed in the street in Muswell Hill at about 1.40am today.

The 21-year-old victim was left in a critical condition in hospital following the assault in the early hours. A man aged 22 was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

The murder is the sixth in London this month – after the attacks on Beatrice Yankson, 59, in Islington on October 26, and Zoe Orton, 46, in Deptford on October 21.

The other three murder victims were Ben Lines, 20, in Bexley on October 13, and two on October 10 – Clinton Evbota, 18, in Camberwell and Baptista Adjie, 15, in Stratford.
