Man in Michigan appears to eat giant Huntsman spider

Man in Michigan appears to eat giant Huntsman spider while drinking with his buddies… but is it a hoax?

  • The video begins with the married father of one holding what appears to be a large huntsman spider straddling his hand
  • He then begins a count to three, and shockingly gobbles the arachnid into his mouth and begins to chew
  • Huntsman spiders, belonging to the Sparassidae family and considered one of the largest class of arachnids on the planet, are not common to North America
  • With over 1,000 different species, huntsman spiders are mostly found in warm temperate to tropical regions of the world

A man in Michigan drinking with his buddies was filmed allegedly eating a giant spider he found in his living room earlier this week.

The video begins with the married father of one holding what appears to be a large huntsman spider straddling his hand.

‘Chris, don’t eat it,’ a woman can be heard protesting in the background.

Ignoring her pleas, the man says right into the camera: ‘You guys want to see me eat a spider?’

He then begins a count to three, and shockingly gobbles the arachnid into his mouth and begins to chew, taking half a dozen bites before washing it down with a beer.

Although appearing authentic, it remains unclear if the video is just a well-crafted stunt or drunken decision made spontaneously.

Huntsman spiders, belonging to the Sparassidae family and considered one of the largest class of arachnids on the planet, are not common to North America and rarely found in cold climate states like Michigan.

With over 1,000 different species, huntsman spiders are mostly found in warm temperate to tropical regions of the world, including Australia, Africa, Asia, the Mediterranean Basin and South America.
