Man killed in Knockholt train station attack pictured

Samir Draganovic has been named as the victim of a suspected attack at a Kent station

Tributes have been paid to a man who is thought to have been chased on to train track and stabbed.

Samir Draganovic, an employed of design firm Stone Interiors, was today named by friends as the victim of the attack in Knockholt, Kent.

The 24-year-old, said to be the British-born son of Bosnian parents, was described as ‘one in a million’ by friends.

Detectives from British Transport Police initially thought the incident was not suspicious after Mr Draganovic’s body was seen by a train driver near the tracks.

But stab wounds were reportedly found on his body and a murder probe was launched.

CCTV appeared to show a man chasing him into the station on Sunday night.

A friend told the Evening Standard: ‘He was the best person, he was so self-motivated and was doing well. He was like a diamond in the rough.

A card left on the flowers at the scene stated: ‘To my loving brother Samir. Words can not describe the pain I have felt. I lost my brother my friend and family. You are really an inspiration. I’m going to miss you. I love you. Sim. ‘

A 37-year-old man, from the local area, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Officers were called to the station at 00.05am on Monday following reports from a train driver that a body had been seen on the tracks near to the station.

Police believe that shortly before 9.30pm on Sunday, the victim was chased into the station by another man.

The victim was then chased on to the tracks, detectives believe. A short while later, the other man walked back onto the platform and exited the station.

Senior Investigating Officer DCI Paul Langley, said earlier this week: ‘Understandably this is an incredibly upsetting incident for this man’s family and we have specialist family liaison officers offering them support.

‘A post mortem examination will take place in the coming days, from this we hope to understand exactly how this man died.

‘In the meantime, we are trawling through all available CCTV and looking to speak with any witnesses or local residents who saw or heard anything.’
