Witnesses told 9&10 News that the man spent 20 minutes inside the EZ Mart’s bathroom before getting into his car and passing out over the steering wheel.

They say the car was running, sitting at the pump and the 18-month-old child was in it. That’s when police were called.

Deputies wouldn’t reveals what drugs the man was on, but said that such a scene is becoming commonplace.

‘With the opioid epidemic that the whole country is facing and with having two methadone clinics in town, I do see quite a bit of operating under the influence of drugs in Otsego County,’ Otsego County Deputy Joe Tath told the news station.

Deputies told 9&10 News that the 18-month-old who was in the car is doing okay, and he is currently in the custody of his grandmother. The suspect’s name is being withheld until he is charged in court.

The man is expected to be charged with child endangerment as well as operating under the influence.

That same day, employees at a Walmart in Palm Bay, Florida, found a man slumped over the wheel of his car in the parking lot.

Police could see an orange cap from a hypodermic needle in the center console area of the car as well as in his lap, according to the report.

‘The needle was retrieved and the substance inside tested positive for heroin,’ police said.

A search of Michael McCullough’s car also produced a plastic bag with what is believed to be heroin inside of it, as well as two more needles located with tin foil with several pills.

McCullough was arrested in Palm Bay and charged with heroin possession, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.
