A canny holidaymaker proposed to his optometrist girlfriend using an eye test on the flight information screen at an airport check-in desk, as the couple prepared to jet off abroad.
Dan Jones, 31, got down on one knee in front of girlfriend Hayley Quinn, 31, watched by the queue of stunned airport passengers.
And when Hayley looked up to the departures screen above the desk at Cardiff airport, she saw a special message in the style of the Snellen Eye Chart that optometrists use to check people’s sight – which read: ‘Hayley, will you marry me?’

Hayley looked up to the departures screen above the desk and saw his proposal written in the style of the Snellen Eye Chart – saying: ‘Hayley, will you marry me?’
The couple were checking in to jet off on their holiday to Corfu in Greece when staff pretended there was a problem with the system.
Dan got down on one knee and – and the proposal popped up on the departures information screen at Cardiff airport.
And when the bride-to-be said ‘yes’ they got an applause from Thomson staff at the desk.
The happy couple, from Morriston, Swansea, were on cloud nine when they took to the sky to enjoy their holiday.

A spokeswoman at Cardiff Airport, who helped organise the proposal, said: ‘Dan approached us a couple of months ago as he started to plan his proposal, and we have been in regular contact with him to ensure it would go without a hitch’

She told a friend: ‘It was a lovely surprise – quite a departure from the usual proposal.’
A spokeswoman at Cardiff Airport said: ‘Dan approached us a couple of months ago as he started to plan his proposal, and we have been in regular contact with him to ensure it would go without a hitch.
‘We loved his creative and quirky idea and worked together as a team to help him pop the question to Hayley.
‘We’re delighted that everything went to plan, that Hayley said yes and they’re now on their way to the Greek Islands for a lovely holiday to celebrate.’
The couple were on holiday to celebrate their future – and a family friend said: ‘They couldn’t be happier – love was in the air.’
