Daniel Nations, 31, has been extradited back to Indiana on charges he failed to register as a sex offender after he was arrested in Colorado last year for threatening hikers on a trail with a hatchet

A man who was once considered a suspect in the murder of two Indiana teens has faced court for failing to register as a sex offender.

Daniel Nations, 31, was arrested back in September and later pleaded guilty to threatening hikers on a trail in Woodland Park, Colorado with a hatchet.

Following his arrest, Indiana detectives traveled to Colorado last year to question him over the deaths of 14-year-old Liberty German and 13-year-old Abigail Williams.

The two girls were found dead near a hiking trail in Delphi in February.

Nations was initially considered a suspect in the Delphi murders but police no longer consider him an active person of interest.

He has now been extradited back to Indiana and faced court in Johnson County on Monday for failing to register as a sex offender.

Prosecutors would not address the Delphi murder case when Nations fronted court, Fox 59 reports.

He pleaded not guilty to the sex offender registry charges and will face court again next month.

Police revealed last year that they were questioning Nations in the Delphi murder case after receiving thousands of photos of people alleged to look like a composite FBI sketch released July 17 of a man who is considered the main suspect.

They were trying to determine if Nations was even in Indiana on February 13 when the two girls vanished while hiking near their hometown.

Their bodies were found the next day.

Police previously released two grainy photos of the suspect and an audio recording of a man saying ‘down the hill.’ That evidence came from German’s cellphone.

No arrests have been made in the killings of the Indiana teens and authorities have not disclosed details of their killings.

Police have released a sketch of the possible suspect and a grainy photo of the possible suspect taken from one of the girl’s cellphones in the Delphi murder case
