A man refuses to believe he could have given multiple women a sexually transmitted disease in a text exchange which has gone viral.
An unidentified woman sent the man, only known as Joshua, a text saying she believed he gave her chlamydia after they had sexual intercourse.
In a screenshot of the exchange posted on Reddit, the woman claims she is certain she contracted the infection from him as she hadn’t slept with anyone prior to the last time she was screened.

‘Because I go get tested after each new person, and you were my most recent new unprotected hookup and I most definitely have chlamydia from it,’ she wrote apparently on an unidentified dating app.
The man then wrote that he had no symptoms for around a year so the revelation was ‘pretty hard to believe.’
The woman then wrote that she was not upset but just wanted to inform her former sexual partner, presumably so he didn’t spread the infection further.
He then replied that she was not the first woman he had been with to make a similar accusation, ‘when I didn’t so I could care less,’ he tells her.

She then tells him that getting checked ‘is really easy’ and could protect him from sexually transmitted infections in the future.
The brief exchange generated much discussion on Reddit with over 1,000 comments.
One person wrote: ‘The problem here is that he thinks he needs to have symptoms. He also thinks, saying that multiple girls accused him of giving it to them is helping his argument. It’s not…at all… quite the opposite.’
Another person claimed: ‘Also “I haven’t had symptoms for a year” means he knows he’s had it recently and he keeps giving it to girls and he can’t even lie about it well.
‘This is why casual sex freaks me out. Idiots like these. I know there are people out there lying about getting tested or being clear.’
The majority of messages were critical of the man for denying he had given her an STD and saying that she ‘wasn’t the girl’ to come forward to him with a similar claim.
Official figures published recently show that chlamydia is one of three sexually transmitted diseases have risen for the fifth consecutive year.
More than 1.7 million cases of chlamydia were reported last year. The infection rate rose 3% from 2017.
It’s the most ever reported in a year, though the trend is mainly attributed to increased testing.
About 580,000 gonorrhea cases were reported. That’s the highest number since 1991. The rate rose 5%. Scientists worry antibiotic resistance may be a factor.
And the syphilis rate rose 15%. About 35,000 cases of the most contagious forms of the disease were reported – also the most since 1991.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released the numbers in October.
Half of STD cases occur in people between the ages of 15 and 24 years old and can lead to health complications including infertility and increased risk of contracting HIV.
In 2018, the CDC received reports of nearly 1.8 million cases of chlamydia, some 580,000 cases of gonorrhea and more than 115,000 cases of syphilis. Of the 1,306 cases of congenital syphilis in 2018, 78 resulted in stillbirths and 16 in infant death.
