A western Sydney businessman says he’s been robbed of $500,000 when a robber snatched a bag he had just retrieved from the boot of his car, minutes after he arrived home.
The 45-year-old man says he parked outside his Lidcombe home on Monday night and went to retrieve the bag containing the day’s takings when another man grabbed it and ran off.
Police wouldn’t confirm the figure, only saying it was a “large amount”, but the businessman has told media it was $500,000.
The victim chased the robber for about 50 metres before he was struck from behind by a white sedan, police said in a statement on Tuesday.
He suffered minor injuries while the robber can be seen in CCTV footage getting into the car as it sped away.
