A man is recovering in hospital after being shot in the stomach while he was standing on a Brisbane street on Friday night.

The 33-year-old was standing outside the Wynnum Manly Workers Club near the intersection of Torquay Crescent and Michael Place at around 9.40 pm on Friday when he was shot, police say.

Emergency services treated him at the scene in Tingalpa before we was taken to hospital in an ambulance for further treatment.

He is now recovering from a serious wound to his abdomen at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Woolloongabba, Queensland.

The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting are yet to be determined, according to a statement by Queensland Police.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have been in the area of Torquay Crescent and Bognor Street around the time of the shooting to come forward and contact police.
