A man has been tasered after beating security, running on the airfield and trying to force his way onto a Jetstar plane at Melbourne Airport.

The 30-year-old man was tasered and detained on Tuesday afternoon, after only being stopped by the captain after trying to smash his way onto the plane.

He crawled through a baggage carousel to reach a secure area of the airport, according to 7 News.

The man was tasered by Australian Federal Police officers after trying to buy a ticket to Cambodia.

He then smashed glass on the 787 Dreamliner plane in an attempt to force his way on, but was confronted by the captain.

An AFP spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia they received a call from an airline at the airport at 12.10pm on Tuesday.

‘Officers were required to deploy a conducted energy weapon in order to restrain the man safely,’ she said.

‘No immediate or ongoing threat to the travelling public or aviation security has been identified as a result of the incident.’

The man underwent a mental health assessment, and no charges have been laid against him.
