Man United: Countdown co-host Rachel Riley insists she will STOP supporting Red Devils if they bring Mason Greenwood back after attempted rape charges

Rachel Riley has declared she will turn her back on Manchester United if they welcome Mason Greenwood back into the fold.

The forward, 21, has not played for the Premier League giants since his arrest in January 2022 for attempted rape, assault and coercive control.

Those charges were dropped in February, though he is still suspended by United pending the result of an internal investigation.

Riley tweeted: ‘I won’t be able to support United if Greenwood remains at the club.

‘As an example, when it comes to VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls), less than 1 per cent of rapes reported to police lead to conviction.

‘We’ve all seen and heard enough. Pretending this is ok would be a huge part of the problem.’

Riley had earlier responded to a tweet criticising shoe giant Adidas for failing to drop Greenwood.

The post read: ‘Adidas response to video of Kurt Zouma kicking his cat: “We can confirm Kurt Zouma is no longer an adidas contracted athlete.” Adidas response to audio of Greenwood raping his partner: “Adidas plays no role in any decisions made regarding any member of the team at the club.”

The 37-year-old presenter then responded: ‘This speaks for itself’.
