Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is reportedly in talks with the Cameroon FA over delaying his departure for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The 27-year-old has been named in Rigobert Song’s Cameroon squad for the upcoming tournament which kicks-off on January 15.

Onana’s last match for United before joining up with the national team is expected to be against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

But according to ESPN, he wants to make himself available for the FA Cup tie against Wigan on January 8 before departing.

Cameroon are set to hold a warm-up base in Saudi Arabia where they will face Zambia on January 9th, a match Onana will miss if given permission to delay his arrival.

He quit international football after he was sent home from last year’s World Cup amid spats with FA president Samuel Eto’o and manager Song.

Onana made a shock return to help Cameroon qualify for AFCON in September but doubts had remained over his future in the team until this week’s squad announcement.

The Indomitable Lions will play their first match against Guinea on January 15, just 24 hours after United face Tottenham in the Premier League.

They will also take on defending champions Senegal and Gambia in their final group stage match on January 23.

Altay Bayindir, a £4million summer signing from Fenerbahce, has yet to make his debut for United and will be given a chance to stake his claim after continuing doubts about Onana’s form.
