Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand took care not to step on the Real Madrid crest at The Bernabeu ahead of the Spanish side’s Champions League semi-final second leg clash at home to Bayern Munich.

Ferdinand, part of TNT Sports’ punditry team for the game, posted a video of himself carefully avoiding stepping on a giant Real Madrid badge.

In a post on X, Ferdinand revealed his belief that The Bernabeu is the ‘best stadium in the world right now!’.

The tie is intriguingly poised going into the second leg following a 2-2 draw in the first game in Germany.

Vinicius Junior gave Real the lead in the first leg but Bayern levelled through Leroy Sane and then went ahead courtesy of a penalty from Harry Kane.

However, Vinicius Junior netted a penalty of his own late on to ensure that the two sides are level ahead of Wednesday night’s meeting.

Ferdinand isn’t the first star to avoid stepping on a team’s badge.

Fans were left baffled earlier this month when Real Madrid players were seen avoiding walking on the Manchester City crest at the Etihad Stadium ahead of their quarter-final tie.

The Real players purposefully didn’t step on the giant City badge in the tunnel.

In September, Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham showed his respect for rivals Atletico Madrid by avoiding walking on their badge as he left the pitch at the Metropolitano Stadium.

In 2022, then-Real Madrid defender Marcelo was left dejected after accidentally stepping on the Manchester City badge while training at the Etihad Stadium.

Real’s Bernabeu stadium has undergone significant renovations in recent years, which has included the addition of a retractable roof, while the capacity is set to be expanded from 81,000 to around 85,000.
