Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has endured some woes on the pitch recently and now the Portugal international appears to be struggling off it too.

The forward has taken an £8.5million-hit on a luxury apartment he owned in Trump Tower.

The 37-year-old bought the nine-bed flat in New York for £13.8m in 2015 but was forced to sell it for £5.3million last November, according to Spanish economic outlet Expansion.

Ronaldo first put the property on the market for £6.7m in 2019 but was forced to slash the price further after failing to receive any offers.

With Donald Trump out of favour, facing backlash during his presidency, and the impact of the pandemic, Ronaldo experienced difficulties selling the flat with views of Central Park.

An online petition was launched in 2017 urging the footballer to move out of the property and was signed by nearly 14,000 supporters.

Last October, Ronaldo received a notification informing him he must demolish a tennis court and building attached to his mansion in Geres, north Portugal, by March.

Ronaldo was also reportedly forced to move out of his Manchester mansion in September 2021 due to security issues.

His security team advised him to leave the 10,000-sqaure-metre property due to a public footpath that crossed the grounds and a nearby road.

The Portuguese star was also said to be disturbed by the bleating of some sheep, which interrupted his rest.
