Manchester United fans have called for the club’s Player of the Year awards to be cancelled following their failure to breach the top four this season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men had held a slim chance of landing a Champions League spot for next season but will now have to make do with Europa League football after an underwhelming draw with relegated Huddersfield on Sunday.
Scott McTominay had given the visitors an early lead at the John Smith’s Stadium but Isaac Mbenza’s strike on the hour-mark was enough to seal a draw for Jan Siewert and his side.

The result confirmed their fate and left fans extremely disappointed after hope had been restored by a mid-season revival under Solskjaer.
As the campaign approaches its climax, United have encouraged fans to vote for their goal of the season on Twitter.
Supporters can also have their say on who deserves to win the the coveted Sir Matt Busby trophy (Player of the Year award).

However, the general response from fans has been to scrap all awards this year following a trophyless season in which there has been no real stand-out performer.
United supporters took to Twitter to vent their frustrations with one writing: ‘Cancel it this season. No one deserves it at all.
Another used added: ‘It would be easier to choose our worst player of the year. Getting our best player of the year will be more difficult.’
Solskjaer, who is planning to revamp his squad in the summer, said after Sunday’s result: ‘We’re not living in fantasy land thinking we can catch the top two. We’re far away, but we shouldn’t be speaking about being far off the top four at United.
‘Effort and attitude was not the problem. The players were running and trying. We just weren’t good enough. That is the problem.
‘We could have, should have, played better. In the first half an hour they weren’t close to our box once. Today we had good periods, very bad periods. It has just caught up with us. It is a fair reflection, being sixth.’
