The wonderful array of cars in the Manchester United squad were on full display on Thursday morning as the players made their way to training as they prepared for another weekend of action.

Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba arrived at the club’s Carrington training complex in their customised Rolls Royce Ghost and Wraith respectively, with the former having to squeeze his luxury vehicle past a tractor on the narrow country road.

Meanwhile, Nemanja Matic arrived in a modest Mini Countryman while Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic kept it patriotic by driving a reliable Volvo. Both Rolls Royce models cost as much as £250,000, which would be enough to buy 10 well-equipped Countrymans.

The club’s highest earner, Alexis Sanchez, landed in the middle of the pack as far as expensive motors go as he arrived in his Bentley Continental, which has been ever-present since his January move from Arsenal.

Jesse Lingard cut a fashionable figure as he sported a pair of trendy glasses while making his way into training, where Jose Mourinho will prepare his squad for Sunday’s Premier League tie against Newcastle United.

The Portuguese will be hoping to further cut Manchester City’s lead at the top after it was reduced to 13 points last weekend following their draw with Burnley. A win at St James’ Park would also further cement their position in second place.

Thanks to Chelsea’s back-to-back defeats in the league, United now enjoy a five-point cushion on the rest of the top six and look to have done enough to secure a place in the top four.

Mourinho will be certain to guard his players against complacency, however, with Liverpool still very much within striking distance in third.

With their local rivals City now almost certain to win the title, finishing behind another in the form of Liverpool would not go down well with the fans or the Old Trafford board.
