- Manchester United beat Benfica 2-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday night
- United striker Marcus Rashford also celebrated his 20th birthday on Tuesday
- However, the England international had to wait until after the game to celebrate
Marcus Rashford celebrated his 20th birthday on Tuesday with a comfortable 2-0 win against Benfica in the Champions League.
The Manchester United striker, however, had to wait until after the final whistle at Old Trafford to really let the celebrations begin.
United took to Instagram following the European clash to post a photo of Rashford smiling down the camera while posing with his birthday cake, which was given to him by the club.

The club’s official Instagram account captioned the post: ‘When you’ve won against Benfica and finally get to enjoy your birthday cake #aboutlastnight #MUFC.’
Rashford only featured for the last 15 minutes against the Portuguese outfit on Tuesday as United ran out 2-0 winners, thanks to an own goal from Benfica goalkeeper Mile Svilar and a penalty from Daley Blind.
Unfortunately, the England international didn’t receive the best birthday gift of all on Tuesday as United couldn’t seal qualification to the Champions League knockout stages.

Jose Mourinho’s men had to better CSKA Moscow’s result against Basle to secure their place in the last 16 but as the Russian outfit came from behind to win 2-1, United must now wait until match-day five to seal their spot in the next stage of the competition.
However, with United on the brink of securing qualification from their group, it comes as no surprise that the squad were in high spirits following the match in Manchester.
Ashley Young took to Instagram afterwards on Tuesday to post a selfie with Rashford, as well as wishing his team-mate a brilliant 20th.
Young wrote on his social media account: ‘You may no longer be a teen but you’re still The Kid. Happy birthday.’
