Man wearing his pants saved from burning pipes in Russia

This is the dramatic moment a man was rescued from certain death trapped in the underground pipes of the Russian city of Kursk. 

The man told his rescuers he was drunk and did not remember how he ended up in the pipes below ground.

As reported by rt.com, he was down there for almost 24 hours before being rescued by emergency services after children heard his cries for help. 

When they heard what they thought to be a voice they rushed to investigate and saw a human eye and his finger trying to poke out the earth. 

When the emergency services arrived they found a man in his 40’s stuck in the pipework which provides the city with hot water from the nearby heat generation plants. 

It was a miracle he managed to survive, as the pipes can reach up to 130 degrees Celsius in the winter which would burn skin on contact.

By a stroke of luck the pipe which he had been crawling through was insulated, meaning that it could not reach its maximum temperature and he could escape.

Fearing for the man’s life and with no time to waste, the fire service were forced to resort to cutting through the cement with a concrete saw. 

His rescuers are seen desperately hammering away at the last few inches of earth before cutting away at the bars which make up the last part of his prison.

Far from escaping unscathed the man emerges covered in burns from his day-long ordeal. 

The local authorities have launched an investigation to find out how he came to be in the pipes and the underground explorer was taken to the hospital to get his injuries treated and sleep off his hangover.
