Manchester Airport arrivals gate sees families reuniting in scenes similar to Love Actually

A tear-jerking video has captured families and friends reuniting at Manchester airport for Christmas today in a real life scene similar to the heartwarming love actually movie ending.

A little girl runs into her mother’s arms, a couple kiss after months apart and friends cry as they embrace.

Reminiscent of the famous final scene in rom-com Love Actually, the arrivals lounge at Manchester Airport is full of tears and laughter as people reunite for Christmas.

Mohammed Khalifa, 41, and Adil Mosa, 28, are impeccably dressed in smart suits and dickie bow ties.

The gentlemen are waiting with bunches of flowers to see their partners Marawa Alnier and Samia Haroun, who are flying in from Sudan.

Mohammed, who lives in Huddersfield, hasn’t seen Marawa for four years.

‘It’s important to be smart because it is a special day for me. Christmas is a special day for me and my partner. I am romantic, I do like it.

‘I have missed her so much, every day. It’s so hard being here and not there, not together. We are now together, it’s a great day.’

Friends Jacky Hay and Rachael Couperthwaite, both 46, are fighting back the tears as they hug.

The pair grew up together in the Yorkshire Dales. Jacky now lives in Port Elizabeth in South Africa.

‘I try to come over every Christmas. My mum isn’t very well at the moment, so Rachael is always a support for my mum, and a support for me as well’,

Jacky grins, while patting her pal’s shoulder.

‘And it’s so good to see you’, she adds, pulling her in for a hug.

Cynthia Mokgadi smiles as she gives Lillian Diphoko, who has flown in from Botswana, a kiss and a hug.

‘We’ve been apart so long’, says Cynthia, who lives in Rochdale, smiling and holding flowers.

Dylan Wright, 32, from Sheffield, hugs his mum Linda. They’ve not seen each other for 18 months as she lives in Canada.

Linda said:’It’s amazing, it’s been fantastic. I’m looking forward to spending quality time together.

‘Because we are always rushing around doing lots of things whenever we visit. It’s special to see him at any time but we haven’t seen each other for Christmas since 2010.’

Mandy Sheldon, from Leeds, cheers as she runs up to hug her sister Helen Williams.

They haven’t seen each other for two years as Helen lives in Toronto, Canada.

This year is extra special as it’s Helen turns 50 on Christmas Day.

‘It’s lovely. It’s a very special occasion this year. We are going to have a big party.’

Asked what she missed most about home Helen jokingly answers: ‘Cheese and onion pasties… No, family obviously’.
