Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus is expected to be out of action for at least two months after injuring his medial collateral ligament.
Jesus was forced off after 23 minutes into City’s 0-0 draw away against Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve after slipping under pressure from Andros Townsend.
City confirmed that the Brazil international will now undergo further assessments over the next few days.

‘He will undergo further examinations in the coming days to establish the extent of his lay-off,’ a statement on the club website read.
‘We wish Gabriel a speedy recovery and we will keep you updated on his progress.’
The 20-year-old was in tears as City physios helped him off the pitch before manager Pep Guardiola put his arm around him.

Jesus has made 32 appearances this season for club and country, scoring 12 goals, with his most recent coming in the 2-0 win over Leicester City in November.
City team-mate Kevin De Bruyne is also expected to endure a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he also came off injured against Palace.
De Bruyne left the Selhurst Park pitch on a stretcher after he was the victim of a Jason Puncheon tackle.
