Manchester United continuing talks with Atalanta over striker Rasmus Hojlund after the Serie A club slapped £86m price tag on their star striker
- Man United suffered a set back in the pursuit of the £86m-rated Rasmus Hojlund
Manchester United are continuing talks with Atalanta over striker Rasmus Hojlund.
United suffered a setback in their pursuit of the Danish international last month after the Italian outfit slapped a club record £86m transfer fee on the youngster.
United, whose interest in England skipper Harry Kane has cooled, could now send Atalanta a player they purchased from them just two years ago to sweeten the deal.
United’s pursuit of Hojlund is set to rumble on this summer as they look to strengthen their forward line with the addition of an up-and-coming striker, who could lead the attack into the future.
The club have been strongly linked with Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen but look like they will be priced out of a move for either player – who are rated at £100m and £80m respectively.

Hojlund caught the eye in his debut campaign in Italy following his move from FC Copenhagen – netting 16 times – including the start of the season with the Danish side and laterly with the Serie A outfit.
Despite reports claiming the striker is keen on a move to the Red Devils, Atlanta remain unwilling to see the 20-year-old leave on the cheap.
United retain interest in Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani too. United have asked about Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow as a cheaper alternative to Inter Milan’s Andre Onana while defender Ethan Laird has joined Birmingham City for £750,000.
