Manchester United have made initial contact with Christian Eriksen regarding a potential move this summer.

As reported by Sky Sports, United are keen to sign Eriksen, with Brentford and West Ham are also interested.

Other clubs who are tracking Eriksen include Leicester, his old club Ajax and an unknown Spanish team. Tottenham haven’t yet come back with an offer following talks that were held two weeks ago, although they have been focused on attempting to sign another striker.

After a dismal campaign in which United finished in sixth place in the Premier League, it is clear that an overhaul is needed at Old Trafford.

There has been a lack of transfer activity so far, but ten Hag is looking to add to his squad, with Eriksen one of his key targets along with Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong. De Jong and Eriksen both understand the way in which ten Hag wants his team to play.

Eriksen made a major impact for Brentford after he joined in January on a short-term contract having recovered from the cardiac arrest that he suffered while playing for Denmark at Euro 2020 last year.

In eleven Premier League appearances for Brentford Eriksen scored once and provided four assists, with many of his overall performances having been of a high standard.

Ten Hag was impressed by Eriksen when he trained with Ajax last season to build up his fitness.

The 30-year-old’s Premier League experience, the bulk of which came during his time at Tottenham, could prove to be extremely useful for United.

United remain in talks with Barcelona for de Jong, who played under ten Hag at Ajax and is seen as pivotal to United’s rebuild.

There have been a host of departures from United this summer, with Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata among those departing the club.
