Manchester United predict record revenues of £640m for the year in latest financial update but club’s debt remains at £510m… amid uncertainty over the club’s takeover and more fan protests against the Glazers
Manchester United are predicting record revenues of up to £640million for the year after a positive season saw them return to the Champions League.
The Old Trafford club announced an 11 per cent increase in revenue for the three months up until March 31 after progress in domestic cup competitions boosted matchday income.
The previous revenue projection for the year of between £590m-£610m has been raised to £630m-£640m.
The club’s long-term debt remains unchanged at $650m [£510m].
It comes after Erik ten Hag guided United to a third-place finish in the Premier League during his first season as manager.
It remains uncertain whether Manchester United’s owners, the Glazer family, will sell the club as two parties jostle for ownership
Supporters angry at the Glazer ownership of the club gathered outside Old Trafford
United fans blocked the entrance to the megastore to coincide with the launch of the kit
The Dutch coach also ended a six-year trophy drought by claiming the Carabao Cup and took United to the FA Cup final.
The latest financial update comes against a backdrop of uncertainty over the takeover of the club as Qatari Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe jostle for position.
There was no mention of the takeover in the financial bulletin on Tuesday.
Hours before the release of the figures, angry fans protesting at the Glazer family’s slow handling of the takeover blockaded the Old Trafford megastore as the home kit for next season was launched.
More to follow.
