Eriksen was holding out for a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid but they are now in pursuit of Ajax star Donny van de Beek.
Juventus have also shown interest in the Tottenham midfielder but any deal would depend on Paulo Dybala’s future, who is reluctant to go to Old Trafford in a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku.
United have recently backed off from their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon and Portugal star Fernandes.
This has opened the door for Tottenham to make their move for Fernandes, with club officials understood to have been in Portugal on Thursday to negotiate a swoop.
Talks between the two clubs continued in Lisbon on Friday after Sporting rejected an initial offer in the region of £40million.
