Manchester United might be 15 points behind their fierce rivals City in the Premier League table, but they had something to celebrate in training on Thursday.

Maroune Fellaini took to Instagram to share a short clip of himself and team-mates including Romelu Lukaku and Ashley Young jumping for joy during their final warm weather session in Dubai.

Michael Carrick and Phil Jones were also caught on camera leaping up and down and chanting as Jose Mourinho’s men proved their team spirit has not taken a hit despite the title race appearing to be over in January.

Midfielder Fellaini, who is waiting on United to offer him an improved contract, also posted a celebratory photo to the social media site as the squad took time out from another intense set of drills in the heat of the United Arab Emirates.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Chris Smalling, Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford were among the smiling faces pictured in the snap as United gear up for their return to Premier League action against Stoke on Monday night. 

Thursday’s session was United’s last at Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex following their arrival on Monday – three days after their FA Cup victory over Derby at Old Trafford.

‘I think a club like Manchester United is always striving for the best,’ he said. ‘Always looking to improve the team and we have had some good acquisitions over the years.

‘But I think the fact we have stayed strong, and we have been able to be a good part of the group over these years we have been here, is a true testament to all of us.

‘When you sit down and think how long it’s been, it’s fantastic. You can never rest on your laurels and it is a case of always improving because a club like Manchester United is always striving for the best and, to be the best, you need to make sure you are always in form.’
