Manchester United STILL haven’t agreed a fee for Andre Onana and have not ruled out starting the season with Dean Henderson as their No 1 if Inter Milan don’t lower their demands

  • Inter Milan are holding out for £51m but United insist they won’t go above £43m

Manchester United are yet to agree a fee with Inter Milan for Andre Onana and Mail Sport understands they have not ruled out keeping Dean Henderson as No 1 next season if they can’t reach a compromise.

Inter are holding out for £51million for the Cameroonian but United have insisted they will not go above £43m as they look to replace David de Gea.

Henderson has been lined up for a £20m move to Nottingham Forest after spending last season on loan at the City Ground, but boss Erik ten Hag is not ready to sell him yet.

Asked if he is still an option, Ten Hag replied after Wednesday night’s 2-0 win over Leeds in Oslo: ‘Yes, of course. I followed him through the whole season. Goalkeeper is a key position but I am happy with the players we have now.’

Due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, United’s summer budget is just £120m and they have already spent £60m on Mason Mount and want a striker as well as a goalkeeper.

Onana, 27, worked with Ten Hag for five years at Ajax and is wanted by the Dutch manager in part due to his ability with the ball at his feet.

United let De Gea leave the club after 12 years’ service earlier this month having withdrawn his initial contract offer and returned with a lower one due to Ten Hag’s reservations about the Spaniard.
