Ajax star Antony has missed the first day of pre-season training with the Dutch champions after being given an extended summer holiday amid transfer interest from Manchester United.
The Brazilian winger has emerged as one of the Red Devils’ main transfer priorities this window, with new boss Erik ten Hag eager to bring his former player to Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old is keen to link up with ten Hag again and was absent from new manager Alfred Schreuder’s training session on Friday due to a longer break.

Talks are ongoing for the £40m man, who scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists as Ten Hag’s Ajax side won the Eredivisie last season.
Antony – identified as a target by Ten Hag during talks with United football director John Murtough in Amsterdam last month – shares a good relationship with his former boss, with the Dutchman signing him from Sao Paulo in 2020.
The Dutch champions were confident of retaining their star player at the start of the window, but it seems that the Brazilian is taking matters into his own hands to force a move to the Premier League.
United are yet to recruit a new signing this window and their pursuit for Jurrien Timber suffered a crushing blow this week.

United had identified Antony’s team-mate, Timber, as one of their top defensive targets this window before new Ajax boss Schreuder claimed the young star was staying in Amsterdam.
‘I have spoken with Jurrien and I am assuming he is staying at Ajax,’ Schreuder told ESPNnl.
‘Timber is a smart guy and he knows what is best for himself. We think he is not done at Ajax yet.’
While there is frustration over Timber, United are in the running to sign Juventus centre-back and ex-Ajax star Matthijs De Ligt, although Chelsea are also interested.
