Promising Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri has moved to Birmingham City on loan.

The 19-year-old will spend the remainder of the 2022/23 season at St Andrews having made two Premier League appearances for the Red Devils.

Hannibal had spent pre-season among the Manchester United first-team squad and featured twice during their tour in Thailand and Australia before playing in the friendly game against Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford.

The midfielder admitted it will be an ‘honour’ for him to play for Birmingham after sealing his loan move.

He told BluesTV: ‘It is an honour to come and play for this club.

‘I have heard a lot of good things from my friends who have played here before, so I am ready to come and play for this club.’

Hannibal will link up with John Eustace’s side and could be in line to make his debut as soon as Tuesday night as the Blues take on Norwich City in the Championship, subject to confirmation of registration by the FA and EFL. 

The Red Devils youth star made his Premier League appearances during the club’s defeats to Liverpool and Crystal Palace  last season, but has not managed to force his way into manager Erik ten Hag’s first-team plans yet.
