Mandurah, WA: Home invasion gone wrong suspected in man’s death as it’s revealed he had proposed to his partner the day before

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was discovered with serious injuries inside a home and later died – the day after he had reportedly proposed to his partner.

Emergency services found the man, in his 40s, with serious injuries inside a home on Renison Drive at Mandurah, south of Perth, at 1:45am on Monday.

St John Ambulance paramedics tried to revive the man but he died at the scene.

It is understood the death may have been the result of a home invasion gone wrong and that the victim may have been beaten with a weapon.

WA Police have released CCTV showing a shadowy figure running away from the area at the time of the death.

Forensic investigators are now examining the scene and have been interviewing neighbours to try and figure out what happened.

A local woman said that she was woken up in the middle of the night by police searchlights shining into her yard.

‘I saw the lights through the windows, about three or four cop cars, and then an ambulance patrolling up and down the street looking in yards,’ she told 9News.

According to the news outlet, a friend said the man had proposed marriage to his partner only the day before his death.

Police have asked anyone with CCTV or dashcam vision from the area between about 11pm Sunday and 2.30am Monday to call Crime Stoppers.
