Man’s murder in Traegar, western Sydney, allegedly caused by sexually inappropriate comment

How an inappropriate sexual comment about a young girl allegedly led to a man, 32, being bashed to death – as three teens are charged

A man found bashed to death allegedly made sexually inappropriate comments about a young girl prior to the attack.

Emergency services discovered the body of Ashley ‘Shazy’ Mundy, 32, in a home on Ellsworth Drive in Tregear, Sydney’s west, about 10:30pm on Saturday with three teenagers charged over the death.

Dylan Aldred, 18, has been charged with murder with police alleging an altercation broke out over a young woman who was Aldred’s girlfriend.

Dylan Thompson, 19, and another girl, 16, were charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Aldred is believed to have been living with Mundy in the Tregear house at the time of the incident.

The Daily Telegraph reports the 18-year-old was known by locals to have lived fleeting in numerous homes in the area.

Upon arriving at the home, paramedics were unable to revive Mundy, with the Mount Druitt Police Area Command establishing a crime scene.

His body was removed from the home by forensic investigators in hazmat suits on Sunday afternoon.

The RSPCA were also at the scene to lead two black and white dogs from the home.

Both Aldred and Thompson will remain in custody overnight, expected to face Parramatta Local Court on Monday.

The 16-year-old will also spend the night in custody before facing a children’s court on Monday.

Strike Force Armine was created, with the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad’s assistance, to investigate the incident.

‘A post mortem examination will be conducted to confirm the cause of death,’ a statement from police reads.
